Lucid Air Beta Version to Have Global Reveal at New York Autoshow

Lucid Motors believes this will be the transition year in their history. They hope to move from an electric car developer to manufacturer. Plans are to conclude this year with the production Lucid Air rolling off our factory line. Lucid are making significant progress in their mission to set a new standard for sustainable transportation.

I am excited to see the global reveal of the production Lucid Air in New York this April, when they will release its production specifications, available configurations, and pricing information. We first met the Lucid team at the New York International Autoshow in 2018 when I was doing the Teslawyer Show. Eventhough I am not a famous youtuber or from a large media outfit, the staff was very welcoming and gave me a lot of access. The car was also very impressive and was bringing new things to the table.

The Lucid Air’s has some remarkable in-house technology. Lucid has been doing extensive testing on their battery tech and are the battery manufacturer for the Formula E racing series. Lucid wants to build the world’s most advanced electric car, it will define Lucid as a company.

Beta Prototype Testing

Lucid is building 80 beta prototypes of the Lucid Air at their Silicon Valley headquarters. Most of those cars are designated for exhaustive testing and will be highly representative of the production Air. Lucid promises to release video updates as they tune software for traction and stability control, braking, and steering systems; perform body and chassis durability testing; and confirm crash simulations with actual tests.

Factory Construction and Tooling

Construction at their Casa Grande, AZ, factory is well underway. Most structural steel will be in place by the end of February, and you can watch as they complete buildings and install production equipment, including a state-of-the-art paint shop. The first pre-production cars are expected to roll off the line early in Q4 of 2020, with full production following that phase by the end of 2020.

Sales and Service Network

Lucid’s first stores are taking shape. They will not only give customers a firsthand experience of the vehicles but provide exceptional service once they are on the road. More information about specific locations and the overall plan for our sales and service network should be released soon.

This forward momentum will continue with plans for a nationwide Lucid Air tour this summer, exclusive store openings, and the launch of a groundbreaking configurator so you can build your own vehicle to personal preferences.

I hope to bring you can regular updates as they reach the milestones needed to make production a reality.

In the meantime, you can reserve your own Lucid Air for $1,000. If you have any questions, you can contact sales@lucidmotors.com or call (844) 367-7787.
