Congratulations to GreenPower Motor Company for finally getting their type D all-electric school bus certified for sale in California. Their zero-emission school buses are Title 13 compliant and have officially received 292 certifications from the California Highway Patrol.
Now that they are certified, GreenPower was able to deliver their first two (2) all-electric, purpose-built school buses to Rialto Unified School District. GreenPower’s Synapse 72 school bus is designed to last more than 20 years with the use of composite body panels. You can outfit the bus with a 100kWh to 200 kWh battery pack to get a range of 75-140 miles. The pair their Li-Ion battery packs with the industry standard tm4 electric motor.
Now that GreenPower has been certified in California, we hope that they will be applying for certification in New York. Although New York has announced how they plan to allocate the VW settlement funds in September of 2018, none of the funds have been released as of yet. NYSERDA is currently accepting manufacturers’ applications to have their vehicles certified to be included in their voucher program.
Congratulations to Ryne Shetterly on two years at GreenPower as the Vice President of sales and marketing. Below is an interview I conducted with Ryne at the Empire Clean Cities electric vehicle showcase.
